pharmachologic effect

Revalgin contains the anticholinergic drug fenpiverinium bromide , the antispasmodic myotropic drug pitofenone hydrochloride and the non-narcotic analgesic metamizole sodium.

Metamizole is a pyrazolone derivative. It has an antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Fenpiverinium, due to its anticholinergic effect, relaxes smooth muscles.

Pitophenone has a myotropic effect on smooth muscles, relaxing them.

The use of Revalgin leads to pain relief, a decrease in body temperature and relaxation of smooth muscles.

REVALGIN: DOSAGE

Parenterally (i.v., i.m.).

For adults and adolescents over 15 years of age with acute severe colic, 2 ml are administered intravenously slowly (1 ml over 1 minute); if necessary, repeat after 6-8 hours. For slow IV administration, 2 ml of the drug is usually sufficient.

2 ml of solution is administered intramuscularly 2 times a day; daily intake should not exceed 4 ml. The duration of treatment is no more than 5 days.

IM or IV Revalgin is prescribed to children depending on age in the following single doses:

If necessary, repeated administration of the drug in the same doses may be prescribed.

The solution is incompatible in the same syringe with other medications.

Before administering the injection solution, it should be warmed in your hand.

Applications and dosages

for adults

It is advisable to take the tablets after meals. You need to drink them 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day. The maximum daily dosage is 6 tablets. The course of therapy should not exceed 5 days.

The daily dosage and duration of treatment can be increased at the discretion of the doctor.

Injections can be given into a muscle or into a vein.

In case of acute severe colic, the drug is administered intravenously at a dose of 2 ml, at a rate of 1 ml for 1 minute. If required, the medication is re-administered after 6-8 hours.

Inject 2 ml intramuscularly 2 times a day for 5 days.

Before giving the injection, the ampoule must be warmed in your hand.

for children

For children, the daily dosage should be selected by the doctor depending on age. The drug can only be administered into a vein to children over one year of age.

In tablets, children are prescribed the medicine in the following single dosages:

  • patients aged 6 to 8 years are prescribed the drug ½ tablet;
  • children 9-12 years old - ¾ tablets;
  • For patients aged 13 to 15 years, the medicine is prescribed 1 tablet.

You need to take the medication 2-3 times a day. Children over 15 years of age can take Revalgin as usual.

Drug interactions

The simultaneous use of Revalgin with other non-narcotic analgesics can lead to mutual enhancement of toxic effects.

Tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives, and allopurinol disrupt the metabolism of metamizole in the liver and increase its toxicity.

Barbiturates, phenylbutazone and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes weaken the effect of metamizole.

Simultaneous use with cyclosporine reduces the level of the latter in the blood.

Sedatives and tranquilizers enhance the analgesic effect of metamizole sodium.

When administered together with H1-histamine blockers, butyrophenones, phenothiazines, amantadine and quinidine, the m-cholinolytic effect may be enhanced.

When used together with ethanol, the effects are mutually enhanced.

Concomitant use with chlorpromazine or other phenothiazine derivatives can lead to the development of severe hyperthermia.

Radiocontrast drugs and colloidal blood substitutes should not be used during treatment with drugs containing metamizole sodium.

Metamizole sodium, displacing oral hypoglycemic drugs, indirect anticoagulants, glucocorticosteroids and indomethacin from protein binding, can increase the severity of their action.

The effect is enhanced by codeine, H2-histamine blockers and propranolol (slows down the inactivation of metamizole sodium).

The solution for injection is pharmaceutically incompatible with other drugs.

If it is necessary to use these and other medications simultaneously, you should consult your doctor.

General description of the drug Revalgin

Revalgin represents a pharmacological group of antispasmodic analgesics, the main task of which is to eliminate pain. So, the composition of Revalgin is dominated by several components that have different ranges of action.

Thus, metamizole sodium, being a strong analgesic, eliminates pain, and also reduces fever and fights inflammatory processes.

Pitophenone, in turn, acts as an antispasmodic, that is, it maximally relaxes the smooth muscles that regulate the tension of internal organs.

Well, fenpiverinium has a choleretic effect on the gallbladder, significantly facilitating the outflow of bile.

Excipients include starch, lactose, MCC, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate and talc.

Revalgin is produced in the form of round white tablets and in the form of solutions for intravenous and intramuscular administration.

Analogues of Revalgin: Spazmalgon, Spazgan.

REVALGIN: SIDE EFFECTS

If you are prone to bronchospasm, it is possible to provoke an attack.

In very rare cases - malignant exudative erythema (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome).

Rarely (usually with long-term use or high doses) - impaired renal function, oliguria, anuria, proteinuria, interstitial nephritis, red discoloration of the eyes.

Reviews about Revalgin

This drug is often taken by women to relieve pain during menstruation. In most cases, Revalgin helps them, if not relieve the pain completely, then at least reduce its intensity. These are the reviews that can be found in discussions of this topic on women’s forums: “I always take Revalgin. As a rule, it helps, but if it’s really cramped, then I replace it with Ketanov - it will certainly relieve the pain.”

There are also references to this medicine in connection with other diseases. For example, here is a description of therapy for osteochondrosis: “I take Diclofenac, drink Revalgin and rub the painful area with anti-rheumatic ointments. It has already become much easier, I only feel a slight stretching, and not pain.”

Many people are very willing to take painkillers. Indeed: as soon as the pain is relieved, the problem itself seems to disappear. But of course this is not true. Therefore, even if Revalgin very successfully relieves the unpleasant symptoms of your disease, then you should not abuse this ability. Having urgently overcome the pain, you just need to go to the doctor and find out its causes.

With long-term (more than a week) use of the drug, monitoring of the peripheral blood picture and the functional state of the liver is necessary.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery

During treatment with the drug, it is not recommended to drive vehicles or engage in other potentially hazardous activities that require quick physical and mental reactions.

Reviews

Katerina : “I constantly suffer from pain in the lower abdomen during the first 2 days of CD. It’s difficult for me to walk or even talk. The first day I can't even get out of bed. I tried a lot of remedies, at first it was Noshpa and Nurofen, then both together, then they stopped helping, the pain only got worse. Now I can only save myself with Revalgin. The effect is strong and long lasting, it helps the first time. I take 2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets in the evening during the KD period.”

Anna : “I had a headache, took Revalgin for a headache, and 30 minutes later I went to the hospital with a skin rash and itching all over my body. I have never had an allergy to drugs. I won’t risk taking it again.”

Marina : “The composition of the product is similar to Spazmolgon, but it lasts much longer and the side effects are much milder. I once took Revalgin for a cough when I was literally suffocating from spasms in my lungs. The cough calmed down after 1 tablet. After visiting the dentist and for headaches, I also sometimes take Revalgin, when I really can’t bear it.”
