"Tribestan": instructions, use, composition, contraindications. Analogues of "Tribestan"

The main male hormone is testosterone, it is responsible for sexual desire, erection stability, sperm motility and their constant number. The normal level of testosterone in a man’s body is 12-33 nmol/l. In laboratories, standards may vary depending on the determination method. Tribestan is a phytotherapeutic drug that will help enhance the production of your own testosterone. One of the varieties of Tribulus.

Unfortunately, a decrease in serum testosterone levels is observed in almost half of men over the age of 40, as well as in young men due to a sedentary lifestyle, poor diet and lack of regular sex. Its deficiency leads to a weakening of potency, as well as disruption of protein metabolism and a decrease in muscle mass.

Description

This dietary supplement is extracted from the leaves and stems of Tribulus terrestris. For many centuries, the peoples of the Balkan Peninsula have used this herb to prepare potions for various diseases: from common colds to infertility. But it was only in 1981 that scientists confirmed the medicinal properties of the plant, and it was in this year that the Bulgarian pharmaceutical company began production of a natural drug under the trade name Tribestan.

The plant also grows in the CIS countries; it is harvested during the flowering period, which is the end of spring and the beginning of summer. Tribulus is very rich in steroidal saponins. They accelerate the structural renewal of cells, the formation of new tissues, especially muscles, and also increase immunity. They also inhibit the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria and fungi.

Tribulus terrestris also contains more than 20 types of flavonoids, which are responsible for resisting lipid peroxidation and prolonging life. Kaempferol helps fight obesity, and scientists are studying its suppressive effects on cancer cells. The flavonoid astragalin is responsible for improving heart function, and quercetin has anti-inflammatory properties. Vitamin P, also known as rutin, together with ascorbic acid strengthens the wall of blood vessels, prevents their fragility and reduces permeability, which reduces swelling.

Compound

Tribestan is available in cardboard packages with 6 blisters containing 10 brown round tablets coated with a polyvinyl film coating. The main active ingredient is the extract of dried leaves of Tribulus terrestris - 250 mg, which is equivalent to 113 mg of protodioscin from all furostanol saponins. Additional components are considered:

  • cellulose;
  • crospovidone;
  • magnesium stearate;
  • soy lecithin.

Protodioscin is a precursor of all sex hormones and has an activating effect on the production of its own steroids in the human body, in contrast to synthetic drugs that simply replace internal testosterone. When you stop using testosterone medications, withdrawal syndrome develops, that is, synthetic testosterone is no longer supplied, and your own has not yet begun to be produced in sufficient quantities.

After using Tribestan, such a syndrome does not develop, since the furostanol saponins in its composition, undergoing chemical transformations, turn into prohormones, and our smart body itself converts them into certain steroids as needed. It also affects cholesterol metabolism and the accumulation of lipoproteins in the positive spectrum.

Indications

Most often, the drug Tribestan is prescribed as part of a complex treatment of sexual disorders:

  • impotence;
  • decrease in sexual desire.

And also some types of male infertility:

  • autoimmune;
  • associated with surgical treatment of varicose veins of the spermatic cord of the testicles;
  • caused by oligoasthenoteratozoospermia without an identified cause.

Also used in women during menopause, as part of maintenance therapy.

Tribestan is also used for atherosclerosis of blood vessels to reduce the level of total cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins, but it does not have a negative effect on the content of triacylglycerides and HDL (high-density lipoproteins) in the blood serum. Sometimes it is used by athletes as a safe analogue of anabolic hormones. After all, Tribestan is based on plant components that improve physical fitness by increasing the formation of muscle proteins.

Admission rules

How to take Tribestan for sports purposes? To build muscle mass and increase endurance during training, it is recommended to take 1-2 tablets three times a day. It is better to take the medicine with food, as it can be irritating to the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.

The drug is used in courses of 30 days. Then it is recommended to take a break of 2 weeks. After this, the medication can be resumed.

As already mentioned, this drug is prescribed not only to increase the effectiveness of training, but also for medicinal purposes. A medicine based on Tribulus extract helps with sexual dysfunction. In such cases, the treatment regimen is selected individually. Before a course of therapy, a hormonal examination is required. Only a doctor can determine the exact dosage of a herbal medicine.

Tribestan: instructions for use for men

For the treatment of infertility and functional erectile dysfunction, it is recommended to take 1 Tribestan tablet orally after meals, 3 times a day. The duration of treatment should be at least three months of systematic use. After this, it is important to consult with your doctor about repeating the course.

The individual dose can be increased to 6 tablets per day depending on the doctor’s prescription. Detailed instructions for use of Tribestan are included in each package.

Reviews from doctors

Alexey Sergeevich S, urologist.

If we consider Tribestan as a nutritional supplement, then I don’t see anything contrary to traditional therapy in it, if you are not too zealous with taking pills. Otherwise, this is a completely harmless remedy that helps some patients improve their health. After all, it’s not particularly expensive, so it won’t be a big loss anyway.

Roman Pavlovich G, urologist – andrologist.

Being a supporter of dietary supplements, I have repeatedly conducted my own observations of two groups of patients, one of which took Tribestan, and the other did not. According to my data, there is clear evidence that Tribulus terrestris extract helps to quickly cope with fertility and libido disorders.

Effect on testosterone and libido

To date, the mechanism of action of the extract from Tribulus terrestris leaves has not been fully studied. Researchers suggest that the main component protodioscin, undergoing a series of chemical transformations directly in the human body, is converted into dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S), which is a prohormone of testosterone and is synthesized from cholesterol by Leydig cells of the testes.

It is from that bad cholesterol, which a few decades ago was mistakenly considered harmful. In fact, cholesterol is a vital element for the body; it is a structural component of the membranes of all cells; the main corticosteroids and sex hormones, antirachitic vitamin D, and bile acids involved in the digestion of fats are formed from it.

By converting into DHEA-S, protodioscin controls male sexual behavior, sperm quality indicators, sperm and prostate development, and enhances the production of red blood cells (red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body). It is also responsible for the growth of muscle mass, endurance and physical strength, respectively, athletes and bodybuilders very often use Tribestan.

Since protodioscin affects the entire cholesterol metabolism, in addition to the synthesis of steroids, also the level of free cholesterol and its derivatives in the blood, it has a hypolipidemic effect and helps fight atherosclerosis. In essence, atherosclerosis is an excessive accumulation of cholesterol in the wall of the arteries; it gradually blocks the lumen of the vessel and a sufficient volume of blood ceases to flow to the organ, which, of course, affects both the structure and function of the organ. Atherosclerosis of the arteries of the penis is a fairly common problem leading to erectile dysfunction, and if it is not treated, then to complete impotence.

The remaining furostanol saponins, which are present in Tribulus terrestris, enhance the effects of protodioscin.

Operating principle

Tribestan is a herbal medicine prescribed, according to its ATX code, for erectile dysfunction. Pharmacologically, tablets belong to drugs that regulate the functioning of components of the genitourinary and reproductive systems, as well as lipid-lowering drugs. Substances designed to reduce the concentration of fat fractions in body tissues.

According to the nosological classification, Tribestan is also used to increase potency in the following cases:

  • lipid metabolism disorders and other lipidemias;
  • disturbances of genital response;
  • varicose veins of the scrotum;
  • male infertility.

In general, andrologists use Tribestan as a general tonic and stimulating male sex gland medicine, obtained from the stem and leaves of Tribulus creeping. The saponins it contains are not only useful for infertility, but also increase male libido, improve potency and allow you to achieve a long and lasting erection.

The most important component of saponins in this regard is protodioscin. Some studies show that by being metabolized into one of the varieties of testosterone, it further strengthens the patient's immunity, metabolism and spermatogenesis.

The description of the drug, if you carefully study the annotation to it, contains a rather concise description of the pharmacodynamics of the tablets, which is due to insufficient knowledge of the mechanism of action of protodioscin and other substances on the body. For example, a number of sources note some effectiveness of the drug Tribestan for women. Several groups of test patients showed a decrease in frigidity, a shift in the onset of menopause, and a general improvement in the functioning of the genitourinary system.

However, full clinical trials of this kind (in accordance with international standards) have not been conducted, so doctors do not prescribe the drug to women.

Contraindications

An absolute contraindication is individual intolerance to individual components of the product. For example, peanut or soy protein, since the tablets contain lecithin.

It is also not recommended to use Tribestan for men with prostate adenoma, since DHEA-S helps to increase the number of prostate cells. It is worth limiting the use of the drug to persons with severe kidney and cardiovascular diseases.

It is recommended that people under age, pregnant and lactating women avoid using Tribestan, because the drug can affect the already unstable immune and endocrine systems of these groups of people.

Tribestan: composition, main indications and contraindications for use, possible side effects

The drug Tribestan, which consists of extracts of active plant substances, can be used for severe erectile dysfunction in men, which has led to a decrease in libido. Tribestan, the composition of which is presented in detail in the instructions for the drug, is approved for use for high cholesterol levels in men. Moreover, it can be used for infertility.

Contraindications

Tribestan, the composition of which is distinguished by the presence of plant raw materials, cannot be used in the following cases:

  • Individual intolerance by the patient to the substances of the drug.
  • The presence of severe heart and vascular diseases (heart attack, stroke, heart rhythm disturbances, angina pectoris, etc.).
  • Childhood.

Side effects

Today there is information that Tribestan can cause allergic reactions in patients. Also, when taken for a long time, the tablets can irritate the gastric mucosa and cause nausea.

In order not to worsen your condition, when the first signs of side effects appear, a person should stop taking the drug and immediately consult a doctor.

Possible harm

Due to the fact that, in addition to sex hormones, Tribestan stimulates the production of glucocorticosteroids and mineralocorticoids, which enhance the formation of a substance in the kidneys that increases blood pressure, it is contraindicated for use in people with severe disorders of the cardiovascular system.

Since this is a 100% natural herbal medicine that has a fairly mild effect on hormonal balance, it has virtually no negative effects on the male body.

Tribestan and alcohol

Since an increase in testosterone production is observed during the use of the medication, when taken simultaneously with alcohol, the drug effect is leveled, since ethanol, on the contrary, reduces testosterone production.

Due to the directly opposite effects of the two drugs, the effect of treatment decreases. Moreover, simultaneous use of drugs and alcohol increases the likelihood of adverse reactions and negative effects on the body. That is why during treatment with the described remedy it is recommended to refrain from drinking alcohol.

Analogues of the drug

Before replacing with Tribestan analogues, it is necessary to consult your doctor, since even products with the same active ingredient may differ in dosage and degree of purification of the main substance, and, accordingly, in the effectiveness of the therapeutic effect. A different set of auxiliary components also affects the spectrum and strength of adverse reactions.

It is worth remembering that only a doctor should select analogues, since self-medication even with dietary supplements that are considered safe can lead to health problems. The cheapest ones include the following:

  • Tribulus 1000;
  • Tribuvar 1000;
  • Tribulus Pro.
