pharmachologic effect
The main component of the drug, dexpanthenol, is transformed into pantothenic acid in the human body. It, in turn, has a derivative, which is a B vitamin. This acid is a component of coenzyme A and helps improve the strength of collagen fibers.
It also takes an active part in acetylation and metabolism, both carbohydrate and fat. It also helps stimulate the regeneration of the dermis and mucous membranes. The acid can improve cellular metabolism and accelerate mitosis. Its excellent regenerating effect, as well as anti-inflammatory, has been proven.
As for pharmacokinetics, when used externally, the substance is well and quickly absorbed into the skin, transforming into pantothenic acid.
Indications for use
Panthenol is used as an auxiliary drug to significantly increase the effectiveness of the main course of treatment, and its price is quite low. Its pronounced healing properties accelerate the outcome of burn processes. After all, it provides increased intensity of skin restoration in case of burns and epithelial growth within 3-15 days. The drug is effective when used to eliminate the consequences of a wide variety of burns (thermal, chemical, solar, etc.).
As mentioned above, panthenol comes in a variety of forms. The drug for external application is indicated for use by adults and children, as well as pregnant women and women during the lactation period, with virtually no restrictions. But, as a rule, the use of panthenol in a particular case is determined by the doctor, taking into account the individual characteristics of the body and the course of recovery processes. However, for burns, if they are external, ointment and spray are mainly used.
It is worth taking into account that ointment, spray, foam or the like. Panthenol can be used at home without a doctor’s testimony. However, this is only possible for burns of minor severity and localization (1-2 degrees).
When panthenol is applied topically to burns immediately after injury, it is quickly absorbed by the skin and promotes regeneration, protecting against scarring. At the same time, pantothenic acid is easily excreted in feces (30%) and urine (70%). It is important to note that although it passes into breast milk in small quantities, it is not toxic and does not have mutagenic, carcinogenic, or teratogenic effects.

Panthenol spray for burns in children
The use of this product is not contraindicated for children. Burnt skin must first be cooled (with cold running water or a damp bandage), then gently dried with a soft cloth. After this, you should spray Panthenol and wait until it is completely absorbed. And only then can you cover the burned area with clothing or a sterile bandage, if necessary.
Burns should be treated with Panthenol spray a couple of times a day. However, if blisters form or the burn covers a large part of the body, it is better to immediately consult a doctor after providing all first aid measures. Spray with dexpanthenol can also be applied to wounds in children (after preliminary disinfection). This will reduce discomfort and speed up healing.

Scope of action of Panthenol
Among household injuries, the most common are burns caused by exposure to boiling liquids, steam or hot metal objects. Such injuries, which affect only the upper layers of the skin and have a small affected surface area, are usually treated at home. The use of pharmaceutical products brings much better results and produces fewer complications than the use of traditional recipes. Thus, when a burn occurs, Panthenol has a persistent anti-inflammatory, regenerating, softening and nourishing effect, which cannot be achieved using conventional home remedies.

For moderate burns received under the influence of electric current or chemical reagents, Panthenol also shows a good wound healing result.
Panthenol is used for sunburn, especially if blisters have formed on the burned area. For Panthenol to bring maximum benefit, it should be used in the first minutes after receiving a burn. This will reduce the wound healing time, quickly relieve pain and lead to complete restoration of the skin without the formation of scars and seals.
In more severe cases of burns, in which the deep layers of the skin are affected, the wound loses sensitivity and becomes covered with dry or weeping skin, no anti-burn agents, including Panthenol, are used. In case of such severe injuries, the victim is taken to the hospital, where he will receive appropriate treatment.
Effect of Panthenol on burns
The active ingredient in a spray, cream or ointment has, first of all, a wound healing effect . Dexpanthenol enhances regeneration processes, activates tissue metabolism, helps strengthen collagen fibers, so that any damage heals faster. In addition, it has the ability to reduce pain and relieve inflammation.
Rules for use when treating burns
The product is suitable for first aid after cooling the burned area of skin and subsequent treatment.
Panthenol is applied at least 2 times a day , cream and ointment - in a thin layer, the spray should cover the damage completely when sprayed (can be lightly distributed).
If the burn is infected, you must first treat it with an antiseptic (chlorhexidine, miramistin).
Bepantol foam, Bayer
One of the most popular lines with a panthenol derivative is dexpanthenol. Bayer produces creams, gels, emulsions and ointments under the same name, but we chose foam. Light texture with a cooling effect is ideal for a beach holiday, when you don’t want to overload hot and irritated skin with heavy and greasy products. "Bepantol" copes well not only with sunburn, but also with any type of irritation, including insect bites and abrasions. It is applied to the damaged area of the skin from a distance of 5 cm, is quickly absorbed and also acts quickly.
Reviews
“Panthenol” with a smiley face in the form of a spray is a good product, judging by customer reviews. They note that the drug quickly restores the skin, relieves pain from burns, eliminates irritation, it accelerates healing and soothes, and is convenient to take with you. Disadvantages: sour smell, liquid foam, slight burning after use, but this is due to the healing of the skin. The product quickly relieves unpleasant symptoms, relieves pain, cools, helps with diaper rash in children, and dries out the skin. As mothers of newborn babies note, Panthenol is absorbed almost immediately after application, relieving the condition. The irritation goes away and the diaper rash dries out.
