Pharmacological properties
The pharmacological properties of Tonsilgon and herbal medicine analogues are due to the complex effect on the human body of the biologically active substances included in the composition of the products.
An extract from marshmallow root has an antitussive effect by reducing the activity of irritants in the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. Thus, the cough reflex is inhibited, and the frequency and severity of painful symptoms decreases. In addition, marshmallow root, which is the active substance of Tonsilgon, has an immunomodulatory effect, enhancing the phagocytic activity of macrophage cells, stimulating the activity of antibody-forming cells of the spleen and thus increasing nonspecific human immunity.
The medicinal dandelion extract included in Tonsilgon normalizes humoral and cellular immunity and increases the body's nonspecific resistance.
Pharmaceutical chamomile, according to the instructions for Tonsilgon, has a wide spectrum of medicinal activity , has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antiulcer, antispasmodic effects, exhibiting in certain features antiallergic and antioxidant effects. The Tonsilgon component such as walnut leaf has a similar effect.
It is also worth noting the high immunomodulatory properties of the horsetail herb extract, which contains flavonoids, tannins, bitterness, organic (monkshood, oxalic, silicic, malic) and phenolcarboxylic acids. These substances help increase the number of T-lymphocytes and normalize the quantitative ratio of T-suppressors and T-helpers.
Yarrow herb has an equally beneficial effect on the human body, providing hemostatic and choleretic effects, possessing antiallergic and antihistamine activity. This component, which is part of Tonsilgon, according to reviews, can have a fungicidal effect on some strains of fungi .
Quercetin, which is part of the active components of oak bark, blocks the production of histamine and other mediators that are involved in the process of inflammation. Reviews of Tonsilgon report good decongestant properties of the drug, which are provided by substances contained in oak bark extract.
All of the above substances of plant origin in combination have anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antiviral and antioxidant properties on the body, ensuring the effective antiallergic and antitussive effect of Tonsilgon.

Quite often, adult patients are prescribed Tonzilgon-N drops? Instructions for use indicate that before using this form of the drug, the bottle of solution should be shaken thoroughly.
The dosage of this drug is 25 drops per day (no more). The medication is taken six times a day, regardless of meals. Before swallowing the drops, it is recommended to hold them in the mouth for a while. This will help the active ingredients be better absorbed in the body.
How long should the medication in question be taken? After all signs of the disease disappear, the drug must be used in the same doses and form for another week. However, the frequency of its administration should be reduced to three times a day. Only in this way will the patient be able to consolidate the healing process.
