Instructions for use

Vaginal-rectal suppositories (in simple terms - suppositories) Bifidumbacterin are intended to normalize microflora.

The active component of the suppositories is bifidobacteria bifidum - a type of anaerobic bacteria characterized by the rate of reproduction in the body and the rapid suppression of pathogenic microorganisms, accumulating them and decomposing them into components harmless to health.

Indications

The drug is prescribed vaginally for inflammatory processes of the pelvic organs in women:

  • Vulvitis;
  • colpitis;
  • bartholinitis;
  • salpingo-oophoritis;
  • cervicitis, etc.

In subacute and chronic course and disorders of the vaginal microflora: gardnerellosis, etc.

Bifidumbacterin can be used as part of complex therapy in the treatment of a number of urogenital infections: chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital herpes, etc.

Suppositories are also prescribed to prevent postoperative complications of an infectious nature in preparation for various gynecological operations.

Bifidumbacterin suppositories for rectal use are prescribed for:

  • chronic colitis;
  • intestinal dysfunction;
  • acute dysbacteriosis, which arose as a result of acute intestinal infections.

In pediatrics, Bifidumbacterin is used as part of complex therapy in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders in newborns, acute dysbacteriosis, diathesis and anemia, and the prevention of rickets. It can be prescribed to stabilize the microflora during the transition from breastfeeding to artificial feeding.

Directions for use and doses

When treating urogenital infections in women, the drug is prescribed vaginally, 1 suppository twice a day for 5-10 days.

For pregnant women, Bifidumbacterin is prescribed to prevent the development of vaginal infections if the vaginal smear is not clean, 1 suppository per day. Therapy continues until the purity of vaginal discharge is completely stabilized.

As part of rehabilitation therapy after a course of antibiotic treatment, 1-2 suppositories are prescribed daily. The duration of the recovery course is 5-10 days.

For acute intestinal infections and other gastrointestinal diseases, the drug is prescribed rectally, 1-2 suppositories three times a day. A combination with oral forms of the drug (capsules and tablets Bifidumbacterin) is possible. The duration of the course of therapy depends on the specific diagnosis and severity of the disease.

Contraindications

Bifidumbacterin suppositories are not recommended if the patient is hypersensitive to actinobacteria. The drug is prescribed with caution to pregnant women and children under 3 years of age.

Overdose and side effects

Since the active component of the drug (bacteria bifidum) is not aggressive in terms of pharmacological effects, there are no side effects of the drug.

In rare cases, allergic reactions to the auxiliary components of suppositories are possible. There have been no cases of negative consequences of exceeding the dosage of the drug.

Composition and pharmacokinetics

The drug is available in the form of white or beige suppositories in the shape of a cylinder or cone. The concentration of the active substance in 1 dose (1 suppository) is at least 10 million bifidum bacteria. The auxiliary components are paraffin, T-2 emulsifier and confectionery fat.

Interaction with other drugs

The simultaneous use of antibiotics during the course of treatment with Bifidumbacterin suppositories reduces the therapeutic effect of the latter. The positive effect of using the drug is enhanced by the simultaneous intake of B vitamins.

Bifidumbacterin in the treatment of candidiasis

You will never think about thrush again if you take timely measures to help restore the natural population of microorganisms in the vagina.
Bifidumbacterin suppositories contribute to this. It contains microorganisms that are, among other things, antagonists of candida fungi. In addition, this drug is harmless and has virtually no side effects.

The only thing you need to pay attention to is the increased sensitivity of the genital organs to irritation. In other cases, even a long course of treatment does not have a negative effect on the activity of the reproductive system.

When carrying out a course of treatment to get rid of thrush, one suppository is usually administered 2 times a day for a week or 10 days. The catalyst for the action of bifidumbacterin is B vitamins, which are recommended to be taken during the entire course.

At the same time, antibiotics that kill bacteria, including beneficial ones, are absolutely excluded.

Despite all the advantages, the use of bifidumbacterin alone cannot get rid of a fungal infection. Before it, it is imperative to undergo a course of treatment using any antifungal pharmacological agents.

The treatment process must be carried out under the close supervision of a gynecologist. This means not only visual observation, but also checking the condition of the intravaginal microflora. This can usually be done by analyzing a smear in a histology laboratory.

Once again, it is worth noting that the complete absence of a population of Candida fungi indicates improper management of therapeutic measures, as it can lead to other diseases due to disruption of the natural microflora of the vagina.

Bifiform, Hilak Forte or Bifidumbacterin - which is better?

Often, when it is necessary to cure certain gynecological diseases and use suppositories, women choose between the following drugs:

  • Bifidumbacterin
  • Hilak Forte
  • Bifiform

And many people want to know in advance which drug is better so that they can immediately buy and use it. But it is quite difficult to give an exact affirmative answer to this question. Doctors also have different opinions. Some people like to prescribe Hilak Forte suppositories, considering them the most effective, others Bifidumbacterin

If you look at reviews on the Internet in forums where the action and effectiveness of the above drugs are discussed, people also have different opinions. Therefore, it is better to take exactly the drug prescribed by the doctor. If a woman wants to buy one of these drugs on her own without a prescription in order to take a preventive course or cure a relatively minor illness, for example, thrush, it is also better for her to consult a doctor first.

Much depends on the condition of the woman, whether she is pregnant or breastfeeding, because all this must be taken into account so as not to harm the baby. Therefore, instead of looking for information about which of these drugs is more effective, it is better to visit your doctor and listen to his opinion on this matter.

Bifidumbacterin suppositories - reviews

My first acquaintance with bifidumbacterin took place two years ago, when I was being treated for an unpleasant sore in the female part. Then it was supposed to be the final stage in my treatment, to restore the microflora after antibiotics, various tablets and suppositories, but our acquaintance did not go well: the next morning after the administration (they prescribed it at night, for 10 days) I had a terrible allergy, itching and in general a disgusting feeling, as if I was sleeping in fat, forgive me for the details... I later found out that after treatment the doctor was obliged to send me for tests to find out for sure whether my concomitant illness, thrush, for which bifidumbacterin is contraindicated, was cured. But the doctor cheated and the “woman with cans” came to me with such force that I had never encountered before. In general, I didn’t particularly like bifidumbacterin from that time on and the packaging, purchased for 100 rubles, successfully went into the trash

And recently, while stocking up in an online pharmacy, I came across bifidumbacterin again, and decided to give it a second chance, although not without some caution. Now, for preventive purposes, I drink Bifiform, Acipol and generally try in every possible way to support the intestinal microflora, so I thought, why not support another microflora...

And the price this time was 89 rubles. Not much cheaper, but still.

The suppository itself is small, no larger than a five-ruble coin, and mostly consists of fat (fu-fu-fu), the “sharp” part of the suppository has a brownish tint (at first I thought that I got a defect, but it turned out that this is acceptable), and the whole thing is accompanied by a not very pleasant smell of fat. But since you don’t need to smell the candle, I tried not to pay attention to it. Among the minuses, I can also note the inconvenient packaging (it is rigid and can deform the candle when opened, and also constantly breaks itself, which is why I now cut the packaging with nail scissors), as well as the excessive softness of the suppository itself (it is 80% made of fat, this is understandable, so it’s slimy and tries to slip out of your fingers). But the most unpleasant thing is the moment, excuse me, of introduction. If, for example, my clotrimazole tablets tended to get stuck, then the bifidumbacterin suppository has some kind of pathological desire to escape: it slips out, easily twists and creates other obstacles. I generally advise girls with long nails to get some kind of applicator for this task, because even with my short claws, a decent part of the candle remains under my nail, which then it’s not clear what to do with at all, you can’t put it back, except maybe wash it off...

On the plus side, I can note the absence of that very “allergic” reaction that scared me off last time and which I was so afraid of this time. Well, there is also almost minuscule discharge in the morning (bifidumbacterin is administered at night), which can easily be dealt with by a regular daily routine. And that’s probably all. Bifidumbacterin was like grain to an elephant - it didn’t make me feel either cold or hot. Plus, I also caught a cold in the female part with the onset of the September cold here, and no beneficial microflora helped me prevent it. And even before this, I didn’t notice any special differences in my condition... Well, it doesn’t cure, but at least it doesn’t cripple, and thank you for that
