Omnic

Pharmacological characteristics

Tamsulosin is a specific blocker of postsynaptic α-adrenergic receptors located in the smooth muscles of the prostate gland, bladder neck and prostatic urethra.

Blockade of adrenergic receptors by tamsulosin leads to a decrease in the tone of the smooth muscles of the prostate gland, bladder neck and prostatic urethra and improves urine outflow. At the same time, both emptying and filling symptoms decrease, due to increased smooth muscle tone and detrusor hyperactivity in benign prostatic hyperplasia.

The ability of tamsulosin to act on the A subtype of adrenergic receptors is 20 times greater than its ability to interact with the subtype of adrenergic receptors that are located in vascular smooth muscle. Due to its high selectivity, tamsulosin does not cause a clinically significant decrease in systemic blood pressure (BP) both in patients with arterial hypertension and in patients with normal baseline blood pressure.

Some interesting facts

It is extremely important for every man to feel his masculine strength, sexuality and libido. Unfortunately, after 40 years among the male population, the percentage of diagnosed pathologies of the genitourinary system increases significantly. One of the most common diseases is prostate adenoma, which among doctors is called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

This disease is characterized by a violation of not only potency, but also urinary function. In the prostate gland itself, small nodules form, which, as they grow, compress the urethra, thereby disrupting the act of urination. Knowing the pathogenesis and clinical picture of prostate adenoma, every man will be able to suspect the development of this disease at an early stage.

To treat BPH, pharmaceutical drugs are used that would affect both the root cause of the disease and the unpleasant symptoms. Complex therapy often includes antispasmodics to reduce the tone of the urinary tract, but, unfortunately, some of them can lower blood pressure, which negatively affects the patient’s well-being.

Medical instructions for use

Taking Omnik medication capsules involves taking them orally (inside) immediately after breakfast, with 100-200 ml of water. A dose of 400 mcg of the drug (1 capsule) is indicated per day. Instructions for use of Omnic do not allow chewing of the capsules, as this can lead to an increase in the rate of release of the active ingredient from them.

Omnic Ocas tablets

Prescribed orally 400 mcg (1 tablet) 1 time per day, regardless of meals.

The duration of use is not limited; the drug is prescribed as continuous therapy.

The tablet should be taken whole, without chewing, to avoid affecting the prolonged release of the active substance.

In case of hepatic and renal failure, no dosage adjustment is required.

What is the release form

In the pharmacy chain, the Omnic drug is presented as special capsules - with a specific extended mechanism for the release of Tamsulosin, the active component of the drug. The case itself has a graphic imprint of the manufacturer's trademark against a bright orange background. The cap of the capsule has an olive-greenish tint.

The internal contents are granules with a whitish-yellowish tint. Packed in special protective blisters of 10 pcs. In a cardboard consumer pack - from 1 to 3 blisters.

Side effects

Prescribing Omnic may be accompanied by the following side effects:

  • From the cardiovascular system: rarely - dizziness; in isolated cases - orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, tachycardia.
  • From the side of the central nervous system: in isolated cases – headache, asthenia.
  • From the reproductive system: rarely – retrograde ejaculation.
  • From the digestive system: rarely - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation.
  • Allergic reactions: in some cases - skin rash, itching, angioedema.

What to do in case of overdose?

Symptoms of overdose are most often expressed in the formation of compensatory tachycardia and a decrease in blood pressure.

In order to prevent further absorption of tamsulosin, it would be advisable to carry out measures aimed at cleaning the gastrointestinal tract (enema, gastric lavage), as well as internal administration of sorbents. The patient's heart rate and blood pressure can recover independently when he assumes a horizontal position. If this method is ineffective, the use of medications that increase blood volume should be considered, and, if necessary, vasoconstrictors should be prescribed.

Omnic and Omnic Okas

These drugs are 100% synonymous, that is, they contain the same active ingredient (tamsulosin) in an identical mass part (400 mcg). Naturally, patients with prostate adenoma often wonder what is the difference between Omnik and Omnik Okas.

The difference between these drugs lies in their dosage form, capsules for the first and tablets for the second, and Omnic Okas tablets are characterized by controlled release, in other words, they have a more constant concentration of their active ingredient, observed in the body throughout the day.

This quality of the tablets allows tamsulosin to act on the prostate muscles with equal force within 24 hours, and also, due to the absence of differences in the concentration of the active ingredient, it is less likely to lead to the development of negative side effects, which makes Omnic Okas tablets considered more effective and safe.

Avodart and Omnik

Although these two medicinal drugs are analogues in their pharmacological properties, they include in their composition various active ingredients that affect various pathological processes inherent in adenoma.

The drug Omnic is a rather symptomatic remedy intended to get rid of dysuric disorders (normalizes urination) by relaxing the muscles of the prostate. The drug Avodart, on the contrary, is designed to reduce the size of the tumor itself by reducing the concentration of dihydrotestosterone, which promotes its growth.

Both of these therapeutic drugs are often used in combination therapy, where they complement each other's effects.

Which is better - Omnic or Focusin?

Fokusin, like the previous drug, is 100% synonymous with Omnic in terms of the active ingredient, its mass content and release form (capsules). Manufacturers of both drugs have approximately equal credibility among doctors and patients, which indicates the complete interchangeability of these drugs.

When choosing between these drugs, you should proceed from their availability in pharmacies in your city and cost (the price of Fokusin in Russia is approximately a third lower).

Omnic or Omnic Okas

Often patients who are prescribed treatment for prostatitis or adenoma ask questions not only about what Omnic tablets are and what they help with, but also about the possibility of replacing this drug with a drug with a similar name - Omnic Okas? Is it possible to restore health and stop the prostate inflammatory process by taking a medicine with a slightly different name? The answer from the experts is as follows: Omnic Okas can be used in treatment, and it is even recommended in cases where patients suffer from side effects that this form of medicine can avoid.

The principle of operation of Omnic Okas, which is available in the form of tablets rather than capsules, is based on the controlled release of the main active substance (tamsulosin hydrochloride), which is realized through the use of a non-ionic gel in the product. The component is released in the body slowly and slowly, accumulating within 24 hours. Absorption of the drug occurs in the intestines (up to 57% absorption), this process is not affected by the daily routine or food intake, so the tablets can be taken at any time of the day.

Getting rid of problems with urination due to hyperplasia or prostatitis within a matter of days - with the drug Omnic (and its “advanced” version Omnic Okas) everything is possible. The main thing is not to do this without the supervision of a doctor, who will conduct an examination, warn about potential side effects, and most importantly, tell you when you can stop taking the medication. And you also need to be able to stop in time to avoid the development of another disease - hypochondria.

special instructions

As with the use of other 1-blockers, when treated with Omnic, in some cases a decrease in blood pressure may be observed, which can sometimes lead to fainting. At the first signs of orthostatic hypotension (dizziness, weakness), the patient should sit or lie down and remain in this position until the signs disappear.

Before starting therapy with Omnic, the patient should be examined to exclude the presence of other diseases that can cause the same symptoms as benign prostatic hyperplasia. Before starting treatment and regularly during therapy, a digital rectal examination and, if required, a prostate specific antigen (PSA) determination should be performed.

Treatment regimen

Before starting to take Omnic, it is imperative to confirm the diagnosis with laboratory and instrumental tests and conduct a digital rectal examination to exclude other diseases with similar symptoms.

The duration of use of the adrenergic blocker and its dosage are calculated by the attending physician individually for each patient. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the patient’s age, the nature and severity of the pathology, concomitant disorders, timeliness of therapy and tolerability of Omnic components.

The optimal daily dose of the drug, regardless of the release form, is 400 mg. Doctors recommend taking tablets and capsules at the same time so that a constant concentration of the active component is maintained in the patient’s blood.

The use of an alpha-blocker does not depend on the absorption of food, but urologists advise taking the drug after breakfast. Since the amount and composition of food consumed in the morning is almost always the same, the absorption and bioavailability of the product will not change.

The duration of Omnic treatment is individual and is based on the type, stage and severity of the disease. Often the course of therapy is 1-2 months, which is repeated 2 times a year at the same time or when symptoms appear.

In mild forms of prostate pathology and urinary disorders, improvement can be observed in 14 days or less. In some cases, symptoms go away after a single dose.

When taken orally, capsules and tablets should not be chewed so as not to disrupt the distribution of the substance in the bloodstream. They are washed down with half a glass of still water.

When Omnic is used for liver and kidney diseases, the dose is adjusted by the doctor, according to the severity of the pathology and the patient’s condition.

Particular caution should be taken when prescribing the drug to people suffering from orthostatic hypotension. If an attack of pathology develops (weakness, malaise, dizziness and headache), it is recommended to give the patient a horizontal position or sit him comfortably.

Drug interactions

When used simultaneously with cimetidine, it is possible to increase the concentration of tamsolusin in the blood plasma.

  • When taken together with furosemide, the concentration of the active component decreases (this does not require an increase in dosage).
  • With simultaneous use of Omnic with other alpha-blockers, a pronounced decrease in blood pressure is possible.
  • The drug does not interact with enalapril, atenolol and nifedipine.
  • When using the drug Omnik in combination with chlormatinone, propranol, simvastatin, diclofenac, trichlormethiazide, diazepam, amitriptyline, glibenclamide and warfarin, the free fraction of tamsulosin in the blood plasma does not change.

Absolute and relative contraindications

Many medications have a huge list of contraindications. However, with the drug "Omnic" such a list is reduced to a minimum.

The attached instructions indicate absolute and relative contraindications:

  • individual hyperreaction to active and auxiliary components of the drug;
  • decompensated activity of hepatocytes, as well as renal elements;
  • presence in the anamnesis of a tendency to orthostatic hypotension.

When diagnosing the above contraindications, the specialist will select a different pharmacotherapy - based on the patient’s complaints, his initial state of health, age category, and the presence of other pathologies.
