The drug Nemozol is one of the best for worms. Its mechanism of action is associated with the following processes:

  • The instructions for Nemozol indicate that it suppresses all biochemical processes in the body of parasites.
  • Reviews from doctors indicate that Nemozol causes destruction of the cell membrane of helminths.
  • The drug leads to suppression of the process of glucose absorption by parasites.
  • Albendazole, included in Nemozol, causes the death of helminths.

When taking Nemozol anti-worm tablets orally, the medicine is poorly absorbed from the intestines and is practically undetectable in the plasma. In the liver cells, albendazole, the active component of Nemozol, is transformed into albendazole sulfoxide, which has a pronounced anthelmintic effect.

Release form and composition

The following dosage forms of Nemozol are produced:

  • tablets PO 200 mg and 400 mg;
  • chewable tablets 400 mg;
  • oral suspension 100 mg/5 ml.

The tablets are packaged in blister packs, one at a time, with one package in each pack. The suspension is available in 20 ml bottles. Nemozol tablets in p/o contain 0.2 and 0.4 g, chewable 0.4 g of albendazole.

The Nemozol suspension contains albendazole at a concentration of 20 mg/ml. Auxiliary components: MCC, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sorbitol solution, benzoic and sorbic acids, glycerin (glycerol), potassium hydrochloride, polysorbate-80, flavorings (ice cream essences/mixed fruit flavor), purified water.

Preventive measures

We have already written that Nemozol can also be used as a prophylactic agent. Not everyone is fully aware of why they should do this. In addition, there are several expert opinions on this issue. Some argue that such a practice should become regular for the family. Each of its members may become infected and transmit the disease to their relatives. Therefore, once a year it is necessary to drink Nemozol for preventive purposes. But other parasitologists believe that it is enough to follow general hygiene rules to avoid infection. There is no need for specialized medications.

Despite hygiene measures, it is worth taking the medicine if one of the family members is infected, if you frequently visit the forest, travel to an exotic country, or if there are any animals in the house. Experts advise using chewable tablets for preventive purposes. They taste quite pleasant and contain a whole group of vitamins.

Typically, the course of taking the medicine does not last longer than two days, and on the first day the patient takes one Decaris tablet, and on the second, Nemozol. Both drugs work well together and act more gently than Nemozol alone.

Pharmacological characteristics

Anthelmintic drug. The main mechanism of action is associated with an inhibitory effect on the polymerization of beta-tubulin, which leads to the destruction of cytoplasmic microtubules of helminth intestinal tract cells; it changes the course of biochemical processes (suppresses glucose utilization), blocks the movement of secretory granules and other organelles in the muscle cells of roundworms, causing their death .

It is most active against larval forms of cestodes – Echinococcus granulosus and Taenia solium nematodes – Strongyloides stercolatis.

How quickly does Nemozol work?

Reviews of Nemozole for children and adults indicate that parasites usually go away within a week after taking the drug. 3 weeks after treatment, it is recommended to do a repeat stool test.

Description and effect of the drug

If you are in search of the most effective anthelmintic drug, then you should consider Nemozol with your doctor. The instructions for use are quite intelligible and understandable, and the spectrum of action is extremely wide. The product fights parasites localized in the small intestine and tissues. The latter type of helminths is quite difficult to deal with, but Nemozol will also help in cases of such infection.

The result is achieved due to the active substance of the drug, which in the body turns into a toxin for parasites. It penetrates their outer shell, disrupting all metabolic processes and leading to rapid death. Literally in twenty-four hours the patient may notice how dead parasites begin to leave the body along with human waste products. This is achieved due to the rapid absorption of the drug, however, with parasites localized in tissues, the situation is a little different.

The helminths die after a few days, but they cannot leave the body. Therefore, the patient may develop very severe intoxication, enhanced by a number of side effects. The instructions for use for Nemozol specifically note that before purchasing it at a pharmacy, consultation with a parasitologist is necessary. Only he can determine the need to take the drug.

Why is Nemozol prescribed?

According to the instructions, the drug helps in the following cases:

  • nematodes (hookworm, ascariasis, trichuriasis, necatoriasis, enterobiasis);
  • strongyloidiasis;
  • toxocariasis;
  • giardiasis;
  • neurocysticercosis, the causative agent of which is the larvae of the armed (pork) tapeworm;
  • echinococcosis of the peritoneum, lungs and liver, the causative agent of which is the larvae of the tapeworm echinococcus;
  • mixed helminthic infestations.

Additionally, the drug is advisable to use during surgical interventions to remove echinococcal cysts.

Nemozol or Dekaris - which is better?

Which is better - Nemozol or Dekaris? The active component of Dekaris is levamisole, which has pronounced activity against roundworms. It can only be prescribed from the age of three. A distinctive feature of this drug is its pronounced immunostimulating effect.

Very often, Dekaris is prescribed in combination with Nemozol. In this case, you should adhere to the following scheme - first, take a Decaris tablet (once) in an age-specific dosage - this will weaken the parasite and make it more sensitive to the effects of albendazole. Three days later, you should take a course of Nemozol - this will get rid of parasites.

Medical instructions for use

Nemozol tablets

The drug is taken once a day in the morning with a sufficient amount of liquid. The tablet cannot be chewed or crushed; its shell must dissolve in the intestines. Children over 2 years of age are prescribed the drug at a dosage of 200 mg, adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed the drug at a dosage of 400 mg.

The drug can be taken for preventive purposes during periods of seasonal damage by the whole family.

In case of severe helminthic infestation or mixed type helminths, the drug is prescribed 400 mg 2 times a day for 8 days. If necessary, with the permission of the doctor, the duration of the course of therapy can be extended.

Depending on the diagnosis and the degree of helminth damage, the patient is individually assigned the duration of the course of therapy, after which he must undergo stool and blood tests.

Anti-worm tablets Nemozol

Nemozol anti-worm tablets are taken with meals. For neurocysticercosis and echinococcosis, patients weighing more than 60 kg should take the drug twice a day, 400 mg. For those patients whose weight is less than 60 kg - 15 mg/kg twice a day - this is the maximum permissible dose of the drug per day.

The duration of therapy with Nemozol tablets can range from 1 week to a month. For echinococcosis, it is necessary to take three courses of 4 weeks each, taking a two-week break.

For children with giardiasis, Nemozol tablets are prescribed once a week at 10-15 mg/kg.

Contraindications for use

The drug can only be used as prescribed by a doctor. Before starting therapy, you should carefully read the accompanying instructions. Tablets are contraindicated in the following conditions:

  1. Increased individual sensitivity to the drug;
  2. Pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  3. Age of children under 2 years;
  4. Diseases of the retina.

Relative contraindications include:

  1. Disorders of the hematopoietic system;
  2. Liver dysfunction;
  3. Severe diseases of internal organs, leading to weakening of the body.

Features of the drug

Pregnant women should never take Nemozol. It can cause various deformities of the fetus and significantly worsen the condition of the woman herself. During breastfeeding, a large dose of the drug passes into the milk and harms the baby.

Alcohol during treatment is also strictly contraindicated. Alcohol-containing liquids enhance the effect of the main substance several times. As a result, the risks of side effects increase and the body becomes intoxicated. If you take the drug and alcohol at the same time, the liver receives a powerful blow, which almost instantly affects your well-being. This will be immediately noticeable by a bitter taste in the mouth, pain and general ailments.

It is worth considering that even after treatment, the patient should abstain from alcoholic beverages for another month and a half. Only during the specified period of time will the liver be able to fully cope with the load that Nemozol will put on it.

To summarize, we note that among drugs that fight parasitic infestations, Nemozol is one of the most common. It has not only convenient release forms, but also low cost. On average, the drug costs no more than two hundred and fifty rubles. Therefore, it is available to most of our compatriots. I would like to add that if a doctor has diagnosed you with parasites, then Nemozol will return you the joy of a healthy existence.

Side effects

The instructions warn about the possibility of developing the following side effects when prescribing Nemozol:

  • From the digestive system: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, increased activity of “liver” transaminases.
  • From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, meningeal symptoms.
  • From the hematopoietic organs: leukopenia, granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia.
  • Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching.
  • Other: hyperthermia, increased blood pressure, impaired renal function, alopecia, acute renal failure.

Analogs

Analogs of Nemozol with pronounced antiparasitic activity: Pyrantel, Albendazole, Vermox, Dekaris, Gelmodol. All analogues of Nemozol are actively prescribed for the treatment of helminth infections, but they differ in their activity, side effects and contraindications, so only a pediatrician can prescribe an effective medicine for worms to a child.

    The lack of doctors-parasitologists leads to the fact that more and more outright stupidity regarding parasitosis appears on the Internet, including on this site! It's a pity!

    Killed by the phrase Analogs of Nemozol, which have pronounced antiparasitic activity: Pyrantel, Albendozole, Vermox, Dekaris, Gelmodol. Sit down 2 points. There are no analogues other than anthelmintic ones. Their mechanisms of action are different.

    The doctor prescribed 3 tablets of nemozol, once every day during meals for me and the child. They both drank. The child did not complain about anything, but there was vomiting. I took the pill myself at night and forgot. In the morning I go to work, right on the street I got sick and vomited. There are abdominal pains at night. It must be taken with caution, but it must be taken.

    I do not advise anyone to take this chemistry! Especially for children! I use antiparasitic oil Tibet No. 5. 13 known antihelminthic herbs against all known worms, fungi, protozoa...

special instructions

For neurocysticercosis, it is necessary to carry out appropriate therapy with anticonvulsants and glucocorticosteroids (GCS). GCS for intravenous administration and oral administration is prescribed to prevent an increase in blood pressure in the first week of anticystic therapy.

During treatment with Nemozol, it is recommended to monitor the cellular composition of the blood. If leukopenia occurs, therapy should be suspended.

At the beginning of each 28-day treatment cycle, blood tests should be performed every two weeks. If a moderate and non-progressive decrease in the total number of leukocytes and neutrophils is noted, treatment with albendazole is continued.

What do the reviews say?

Reviews from doctors about the drug Nemozol allow us to conclude that this medicine for worms is one of the best today. The drug disrupts the flow of biochemical processes in the body of parasites, causes destruction of their cell membranes and, as a result, leads to the death of helminths.

The effect of the drug applies to tapeworm larvae (armed, canine), Giardia, whipworm, pinworms, opisthorchia, roundworm, necator americanus, intestinal eels, microsporidia, toxocara. Nemozol is also effective for polyhelminthiasis.

The manufacturer produces it in the form of tablets and suspensions: tablets are the optimal dosage form for adults, a suspension is prescribed for children over 12 months of age.

Nemozol or Vermox - which is better?

What is better for getting rid of worms – Vermox or Nemozol? The active ingredient of Nemozol is albendazole - this component is used both for mono-infestations and for several parasites, and is an effective remedy for giardiasis in children. The active ingredient in Vermox is mebendazole, which is as active against helminths as albendazole. Vermox is used along with Nemozol. Therefore, it is difficult to say which drug is better, since both drugs have a similar mechanism of action, indications and contraindications.
