Indications for use

According to the instructions, Venitan is indicated for the treatment of:

Venous insufficiency, accompanied by severe pain, a feeling of heaviness in the legs, swelling of the legs, night cramps in the calf muscles;

Venitan is prescribed to accelerate the resorption of post-traumatic hematomas and infiltrates after injections.

Under certain conditions, Venitan can be prescribed to healthy people with:

Hereditary predisposition to varicose veins;
A sedentary lifestyle, when a person is forced to sit or stand for a long time;
Excess body weight;
Sports activities that involve increased stress on the leg muscles;
The presence of symptoms such as tired legs in the evenings.

Pharmacological action of Venitan

This is an angioprotective agent for external use. The active component of the drug contains the triterpene saponin escin, catechins and flavone glycosides.

The medicine has a pronounced venotonic and decongestant effect, and also quickly relieves the inflammatory process.

The active substance reduces the permeability of capillaries and blood vessels. Escin stimulates the activity of phospholipase A2 and helps maintain the adenosine triphosphoric acid reserve in cells. The medication also prevents the breakdown of proteoglycans in the vascular wall due to inhibition of the activity of lysosomal enzymes. After completing the course of therapy, blood stagnation in the venous bed is eliminated or minimized, swelling in the legs and pain when walking or at rest go away.

The remedy is no less effective for hematomas formed as a result of injuries and after injections.

Directions for use and dosage

Venitan in the form of a gel or cream is used only externally. It is recommended to apply the drug 2-3 times a day in a thin layer and rub into the skin with light massaging movements.

Venitan cream is recommended to be used in the evening, combining its application with a light massage. Venitan gel, on the contrary, is intended for use in the first half of the day. The duration of therapy can be different and depends primarily on the severity of the disease, as well as on the severity of the therapeutic effect.

When using Venitan for the treatment of varicose veins, it is recommended to simultaneously use special bandages, stockings and elastic bandages.

The drug is produced in the form of a gel and cream.

Gel

It is colorless and has a characteristic odor. The gel is based on β-escin, which is contained in an amount of 10 mg in 1 g of the drug.

Cream

Aescin is contained in the seeds of horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum L., semen). It is a mixture of triterpene saponins. Escin has an anti-inflammatory effect mainly in the initial phase of the inflammatory reaction, “thickening” the walls of the capillaries and thus reducing their permeability, which is increased during inflammation. Escin also has a positive effect on fragility of capillary walls and increases the tone of the venous walls when it weakens. All this leads to a decrease in stagnation in the venous bed and accumulation of fluid in the tissues, preventing the appearance of edema.

Pharmacokinetics

In accordance with the International Convention (EMEAHMPWG11/99), when conducting clinical trials of herbal products, an isolated study of pharmacokinetic parameters is not required.

Indications

- venous insufficiency (pain and feeling of heaviness in the legs, night cramps in the calf muscles, itching, swelling of the legs);

Instructions for use / dosage

The drug is used externally.

A thin layer of gel should be applied to and around the affected areas and rubbed in gently. Frequency of use: 2-3 times/day.

The cream is applied several times a day to the skin of the affected limb, gently rubbing.

For varicose veins of the lower extremities, it is also recommended to use an elastic bandage or wear special tights.

Aescin is a component that is found in sufficient quantities in horse chestnut seeds.
